In June 2020 I was commissioned to rebrand SEO specialists iThinkMedia.  They were approaching their 10th year anniversary  and the brand was looking out of date, unfocused and badly required an overhaul. SEO is becoming an increasingly competitive marketplace, to achieve cut-through we needed to start from scratch. We had to create a distinct brand with values that better reflected the company’s offering, including its goals and objectives.

After an extensive research phase we arrived at a strategy that would focus the company’s key strengths – retail and automotive. To ensure we came out of the gates with a fresh new message we agreed the company required a name change.  ‘Honcho’ embodied the company’s values of leadership, quality and proactivity – ‘When we take the lead our customers take the lead’ is an internal brand mantra. I created an intriguing and exciting brand that would communicate their new direction that worked across multiple platforms and contexts and felt perfectly at home in the present company work environment.

Presentation is everything. The barcode motif carries though all their branding, even when you stack the business cards.
Retail Space
Part of the company’s expansion plan was to move into an adjacent building. We were to build a simple connecting walkway, between the two offices. However, as the Honcho brand began to emerged we thought there was a great opportunity make use of this space.  We decided to ‘theme’ the area, creating a boutique ‘shop’ with our own branded merchandise. We turned what would have been a simple transitional space into the social hub of the company, installing a digital touchscreen which acted as suggestion box, music hub and animated notice board.

The area is loved by Honcho clients and employees alike, and has actually become something of a talking point in the industry. It’s the perfect way for Honcho to gift clients with a ‘thank you’ now and again in a shopping and commerce context.
